Anyone know of a good online MBA program?

I want to get back in school and get my MBA, but with a newborn and full time job I need to find a school that offers a program entirely online. I’m still in the preliminary stages of researching, but can anyone offer suggestions?

There are tons of online programs. I personally attended traditional and online-only schools, and I have taught for various online schools and traditional schools over the last five years. All are accredited and solid programs. Schools tend to vary in price, so we could say online schools are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies.

The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Is it worth it? YES. My career has boomed since my MBA at nearly 5 years ago. I am close to finishing my PhD through distance education, and I am at the job that I want. I know I wouldn’t be here without the education. If you are looking at work in the U.S., then you need a school that is accredited and recognized by the Dept of Ed. I can give more info on that later.

You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

Online MBA – Does anyone have any real world experience with how these degrees are viewed by employers?

I mean someone who has obtained a better job by virtue of attaining a degree of this type, or someone who has had a bad experience in a job search because of obtaining this type of degree.

I don’t need to hear that going to a top 15 business school is the way to go. I know that. If I could go to Harvard then I would, but I can’t. Just looking to enhance my skills some and put myself into a better position for some upper level jobs at my current employer as well as other employers. For that reason I’m wondering if going for an online MBA is worth my time, or would the amount of job experience I gained at the same time be just as valuable, if not more so, along with just obtaining some professional designations/certificates?

We’re one of the largest employers in the state and we accept regionally accredited degrees, regardless of delivery format.

If you want an online MBA with more name recognition, look at Penn States or U Illinois just announced they were kicking off their online program.

How one can compare accredited campus MBA to regular full time or part time MBA from market value stand point?

Phoenix may cost a bit more…but if it’s accredited I’d say it’s an okay option.

What MBA programs can I get into? Could I get a full ride scholarship with my high honors?

I will receive by Bachelor’s in Business Administration from an accredited university in Florida, September 2009. I will graduate with a 3.90 GPA. What descent MBA programs would I be able to get into? Is there anyway to get a full ride scholarship with my high honors?

Most MBA programs either require or strongly prefer that you work for a couple of years before you apply. In addition, without knowing your GMAT scores, it’s impossible to say where you might get in, or whether or not they’ll give you any sort of scholarship.

In general, there are far, far fewer "full ride" scholarships given for professional degrees like law, medicine, or MBAs, than are given at the undergrad level. Your chances of getting one are slim, even if your GMAT ends up being perfect. But if you do very well on the GMAT, and have good work experience, you’ll get into a very strong MBA program. And even if you have to pay for Harvard Business School with loans, it’ll be worth it, because when you come out, you will be making serious coin.

Is Brenau University’s online MBA program accredited?

The Brenau site says they are, but I don’t see their name on the AACSB list. Is there more than one type of accreditation?

The are many different accreditation agencies. Some of them are regional. Look at the site , read their claim, and then check with the group that they say has accredited them./

I’m graduating in May and trying to find a university/college that I can take an online MBA in Business Administration program. If possible, I would love it to be accelerated (instead of 2 years, 1 year).

I would suggest you check with brick and mortar schools that also offer a Business Administration degree online. One such school I can recommend is Stevens-Henager College. It’s one of the oldest colleges in Utah, accredited by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), and offers a fully online MBA degree. The best part is that you can earn this degree in 15 months, just a little over your target of one year!

You really want an AACSB accredited school, this is the top accrediation for business schools and non-AACSB accredited schools are not taken seriously by employers. Schools with good MBA programs are the best ones to turn to for good online MBA programs (when they offer it). Before you enroll be sure to talk to current students, ask them what they like and don’t like about the program. Talk to career servcies, ask them how they help online MBA students. Assuming I’m a foreigner going to attend a FT TOP 100 ranked MBA in the USA, will I be able to land a good job in the USA? I’m italian…

The student visa can be extended for a year of "practical work experience" – but getting a H1b visa or green card is very difficult.

Some graduates have been known to marry an American just to stay in the USA. An exchange of cash has been known to facilitate such arrangements.

Others emigrate to Canada and get cheap Canadian citizenship in three years, then move to the USA on a TN Visa. This might be less more cost-effective (better ROI) than marrying an American.
